new series

part of a series im doing, “gutrot”. i’ll probably end up having 5 drawings in this series. i dont know. i never really plan anything out. ever. we’ll see.

i first saw jims work in the outsiders folk galley at the goggle works in reading PA. (if in the area check it out, its awesome) his work totally blew me. incredible, to me a perfect example of what art is. there was so much behind each one of his pieces that it literally took my breath away. definitely check out his stuff. SO good.

It’s so funny to me, each person’s definition of art. What is it? Its purpose, its point. To allot of people I suppose it’s to show skill and time and pretty things, overall beauty. I can appreciate that type of work, and admit I probably couldn’t do it or have that type of patients, and I can have tremendous respect, but it’s not art to me it just shows skill and ability, which is something else. I don’t think you need skill or ability to be a truly amazing artist. Art it’s suppose to be disturbing and ugly, makes you think, brings something up in you, and that in itself is beauty and beautiful. I am constantly purging up pieces of myself onto paper, cardboard, trash, desperately trying to find myself and be able to put some of those pieces together. Hopefully making some sort of storey out of my life.
